Bank of England chief goes back to his Pennine roots

The Yorkshire Post today carried an interesting piece about yet another northerner who has made a great impact on national life.

The West Yorkshire moorlands have inspired some of the greatest poetry in history, and yesterday they worked their magic on a man who has spent the last five years battling the biggest financial crisis in living memory.

Sometimes those of who have our origins in the North and who live in the North tend to look southwards and think of "those southerners" controlling so many aspects of our lives. It is good to be reminded again that London is also heavily populated by people whose origins lie far beyond Watford Gap.
